Review by Fraser Green

Two of the most famous senior actors in Hollywood are paired up in this touching comedy about a list of things to do before they die. Starring Jack Nicholson (As Good As it Gets), Morgan Freeman (Driving Miss Daisy), Sean Hayes (Cats & Dogs) and Beverly Todd (Crash) this cast is just great from beginning to end.

Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) is a very successful businessman who owns a hospital, while Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman) is a mechanic who has been married to the same women for a lifetime and has three children. These two have fatal medical conditions and end up in the same hospital room. These completely different form a relationship and create a list called “A Bucket List” which is a list of things to do before they die. Edward being very enthusiastic about the list decides to put it in action with all the money he has and their relationship grows dramatically with bumps along the way.

This film is certain to be a hit, especially with the two 70-year actors as the leads, and they do a great job in their roles. What starts out as a comedy, turns into a touching drama with some moral aspects. This could be the problem with the film, it stars off rather funny, but it soon becomes eliminated completely. However, what it turns into is nothing bad anyway. The story does become more interesting rather than just, ‘doing stuff before you die’. Although some of the things they do may seem a little over-the-top or unrealistic for their situation, it is a bit of fun. The big problem with this film is that it is very lazy, and is so obviously filmed in studios. However, it is sure to please large amounts of people.

My Rating: 3 stars
